HR Best Practices Assessment

Home › HR Best Practices Assessment

One major goal of all organizations is to operate as efficiently and effectively as possible, and this begins in human resources. However, it is not possible to strengthen your business without a profound awareness of its weaknesses. An HR assessment is the best way to find out where your organization is falling short in human resources and how these shortcomings can best be corrected.

What Is Involved In An HR Assessment?

When we conduct an HR assessment, we will give your organization’s current practices, procedures and policies a comprehensive review that highlights the aspects that need improvement and identifies areas where you could be at risk.

Some of the areas covered include payroll, records maintenance, discipline and documentation, termination practices, and compensation and benefits.

Here is a closer look at our procedure:

  • We will inventory and analyze the core components of your HR infrastructure, such as performance management methodology, employee files, policies and procedures, and compliance with applicable laws. This includes a look at:
      • Your onboarding and new hire processes, including background checks, pre-hire testing and offer letters
      • Your recruitment strategies and practices, including your employment application and referral programs
      • Compensation structure and salary benchmarking
      • Your organization’s use of labor law posters
      • Practices related to employee leave administration and management
      • Your employee handbook and policies, which will be reviewed for completeness and clarity
      • A thorough review of your employee training strategies
      • Your practices for I-9 form completion, storage and verification

    • A review of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance, which includes your company’s practices related to exempt and non-exempt classifications and timekeeping
  • We will conduct a historical review of performance-related issues, including the handling and resolution of federal and state audits, lawsuits and other legal actions.
  • Our team will scrutinize your organizational structure, including compensation, reporting relationships and titles, to identify any potential conflicts of interest.
  • A close look at your HR statistical data, including your cost per hire, current and past HR staffing levels, average tenure and turnover rates, will be carried out.

All these findings will be included in a comprehensive written report with a risk assessment that will be presented for an active review and discussion. It will also draw attention to areas where compliance standards are questionable or clearly being unmet.

In addition to providing advice, guidance and recommendations for correcting each issue we identify, we can also help you institute these corrections.

Who Should Get An HR Best Practices Assessment?

All organizations can benefit from these assessments, especially if:

  • You have any doubts about whether you are in compliance with local, state or federal employment laws
  • You want to ensure your business runs as efficiently as possible
  • You are struggling to attract and retain top employees
